Eric Smith.
Down 41 lbs.

A desk job, two kids, and a hundred failed Mondays.

Starting point

238 lbs, desk job, training 'sometimes,' eating takeout four nights a week

The goal

Lose the gut, get back to the guy he was at 28

The Story

Eric applied on a Tuesday night after his daughter asked why he didn’t come in the pool anymore. His words on the application: “I know what to do. I just don’t do it.”

That line is half my client base. Eric had read the articles, owned the gym membership, and had started over so many times that starting over was the routine. The problem was never information. It was that nobody was watching.

Where it kept breaking

Every previous attempt followed the same arc: two hot weeks, one busy week, silence. The plans he’d tried assumed a man with an empty calendar and a meal-prep hobby. Eric had a product-manager job, two kids under ten, and a phone that started yelling at 7am.

So we didn’t build the perfect plan. We built the plan that survives a Tuesday product launch.

What the 90 days actually looked like

Weeks one and two were boring on purpose: hit three sessions, hit the protein floor, send the daily check-in. No heroics. The scale barely moved and I told him to expect exactly that.

By week five he was down 14 and the check-ins got shorter because there was less to confess. Week six, work exploded. This is where every previous attempt had died. Instead, the plan dropped to two sessions, dinners stayed logged, and we called it a maintenance week on purpose. He came out the other side still in the game. That week, not any PR, is why the photo looks the way it does.

The last month was the strongest: down 41 total, lifting more than he had in a decade, and running the system himself with me just checking the math.

What We Changed

Training

Three 45-minute sessions a week, built around his lunch break and one early morning. Full-body strength work with simple progression targets. No two-hour bro splits, no exercises that needed equipment his gym didn't have.

Nutrition

No foods banned. We set a protein floor and a calorie ceiling, kept his family dinners untouched, and pre-decided his takeout orders instead of pretending takeout wouldn't happen. He logged everything, even the bad days. Especially the bad days.

Habits & Accountability

Daily check-in message, even one word. A 15-minute Sunday reset to plan the week. Steps tracked, sleep protected on work nights. When week six blew up with a product launch, the plan flexed to two sessions and held the line instead of collapsing.

client review

"I'd tried everything. Tyler didn't sell me hype. He handed me a plan and held me to it. Down 41 pounds and I'm not going back."
